Lenguas de Agua with Sara Zuluaga Correa, 2025

A 25’ performatic reading of a literary essay.

A collaboration with writer and translator Sara Zuluaga Correa.

The text traces the etymology of the original names of different rivers in Colombia, and how words shift meaning through translation, time and memory; thus shifting also the meaning of the thing they’re naming.

The aqueous character of the text is amplified and contrasted by electronic processing of the reciting voice, at times muddying the understanding of the semantics of the text and giving space to a different, melopoetic understanding.

When: Premiered during the event “Nado des-sincronizado” in Pablo Tobón Uribe Theater, Medellín. Performed again during the “Días del Libro” festival in the Public Library Piloto in Medellín.
