Muchas manos, muchas voces [Many hands, many voices], 2024

A collective exercise/ritual for attentive listening and playing, in interaction with the sculptures  “When the river sounds” and Becoming mountain” by Tania Candiani. Commissioned by the Modern Art Museum of Medellín.

A score is given to the audience at the beginning of the event, which proposes how to relate to the space and the instrument and introduces the codes that will be indicated by the director to shape and develop the piece. Up to 24 people stand around the harp, which is amplified and spatialized using the sculptures as acoustic tools to redirect the sound from the speakers. The rest of the audience performs, at the same time, another score with their voice, following the same codes indicated by the director.

In the end, Eco improvises a “memory” on the computer, using the recordings of what the audience just played as raw material.

a 25’ sound performance

When: Commissioned by the Modern Art Museum of Medellín. Performed at the museum on August 2nd, 2024.
