SCREAMING TUTORIAL uses the format of YouTube video tutorials and its surrounding ecosystem to tell the story of a character becoming through the discovery (or, more adequately, the construction) of its own voice. At the same time, the work shows the breadth of emotional possibilities of screaming in a genre/genderqueer world. It is divided into four chapters: Warm-up, Regurgitation, Birthing and Scream.

Screaming is a form of expression that breaks through and exceeds language. Human and non-human animals of all ages communicate a variety of emotions through screaming, without the need for words. When used in contexts of “dignified rage”, such as protests, it embodies the urgency of the message, bringing a political demand into the emotive realm. The character in the performance is voiceless, yet it must say something. It researches, imitates, practices and fails at speaking, until it finally finds its own voice: screaming.

The work constantly straddles the line between earnestness and irony, treating the visual and sonic cues of extreme metal music (corpse paint, blast beats, aggressive energy, distorted guitars, growling) as raw material to be queered and played with.
